The problem
Water was leaking near the water meter on one side of the driveway at this Oxenford home. The ground around the pipe was wet, and the hole filled with water as soon as it was opened up.
What we did
- Dug down beside the driveway to expose the water main near the meter
- Found the source of the leak, a pinhole in the pipe
- Cut out the faulty section of pipe
- Replaced it with a new section of pipe
- Backfilled the area once the repair was done
Why it matters
A pinhole leak is small, but the water main is always under pressure, so water keeps escaping day and night. That wastes water, can show up on the water bill and keeps the ground around the pipe soft and wet.
Finding the exact spot and replacing only the damaged section keeps the dig small and the repair straightforward. It also means the leak is fixed at its source rather than patched over.
