The problem
The small electric hot water system under the kitchen sink in this Surfers Paradise apartment was leaking. Water had been getting into the cabinet, and the back panel behind the unit was soaked, breaking apart and marked with mould.
What we did
- Removed the leaking hot water system and disposed of it
- Supplied and installed a new 50 litre electric hot water system under the sink
- Fitted new compliant fittings to the connections
- Reused the existing tray under the unit
- Tested the new system at the kitchen tap
Why it matters
An under-sink unit sits inside cabinetry, so a slow leak can go unnoticed until the cabinet is already damaged. New fittings mean the connections start fresh instead of relying on old ones that have been sitting in a damp cupboard. The tray under the unit is there to catch water if anything leaks in future.
